Nostalgic Drag Races
Well here you go: Tech Inspection Rules | Street Car Rules | Drag Schedule of Events | Map to Location
The Nostalgic Drag Races have been a hit for the first two years. This year will be no different. The Helena Airport has decided to help and kick in the set up of the race this year. It will still be manned and ran by the Helena Valley Timing Association, with the Airport handling the safety and security aspect along with over seeing the teching of the cars. Safety is an utmost concern of the car club and of the airport. We will have the rules and guidlines up as soon as possible so everyone will be able to take a peak at them. That way there is no suprises at the gate. The difference this year will be the addition of a "Street Car Shootout" event.
In addition to the great narly cars and trucks from all over the state, The Montana Street Car Association will be having a Street Car Shootout. This is still in the planning stages, at the same time, it looks to be a great addition. It should, like most events that have been associated with this car show weekend, become a crowd pleaser almost instantaneously. There will be two classes; Outlaw Street and True Street Class. The following is an excerpt from an email from the ever busy Jeff Wadekamper, "Those participating in the street car shootout will still pay their $10 entry fee to get in with car and driver, but in order to participate in the Street Car Shootout, they will need to pay an additional $25. There will be payouts for the winner and runner up for each of the 2 classes. Payouts will depend on the number of cars that register. The format will be heads up racing with a pro tree, and no times will be displayed or announced for the street cars, only a winner. People will get to see some fast cars, including some 5 and 6 second runs." I am getting shivers!
